The classroom companion you always wanted

HiJo for the student

Students who are motivated to learn, generally do better in class. HiJo provides them with a channel to build emotional awareness and express how they are feeling in the classroom, all day, every day.

HiJo is a safe and discreet in-classroom confidante, a trusted way for students to share their feelings. Empowering students with the mechanism and confidence to communicate more effectively and allowing all children in the classroom to be heard.

HiJo creates an environment where students can openly share their feelings, input their mood and have direct and discrete access to their teacher or carer, which allows for a more personalized and individually aware learning experience to be delivered.

Roll call just got a lot more intuitive

HiJo for the teacher

Our teachers are on the frontline every day. They are required to deal with all types of students who have very individualized needs to ensure that they not only cope, but flourish in their educational experience.

Currently teachers lack the tools to monitor the emotional mood and physical movement of each student in the classroom, the environmental factors that may be affecting their current state or individuals that may be displaying the early signs of mental health issues.

HiJo acts as the ‘wellbeing thermometer’ of the classroom by providing a consistent stream of direct and immediate ecological momentary assessment data, which is easily accessed through a live dashboard. This provides teachers with the ability to better understand the current mood in their classroom and how each individual student is feeling and coping in the moment and the ability to identify any potential ‘red flag’ scenarios.

Teachers also gain access to monthly reports that are informed by HiJo’s constant mood and emotional engagement monitoring of the classroom. These reports detail behavioral patterns that develop over time for all students, from those at risk through to those in need of greater challenges and stimulation.

Finger on the pulse of student wellbeing

 HiJo for the school

Student welfare is a primary concern for all schools. As the rate of mental health issues in our young people continues to rise, schools will inevitably need to look for ways to better support the students in their care that may be at risk.

Early intervention is the key. HiJo’s primary objective is to lower the rate of mental health issues in our young people by producing data that enables early intervention for those most at risk.

Effectively, HiJo becomes the ‘wellbeing thermometer’ of the classroom and across the entire school. We do this by capturing raw and honest momentary feedback from each student, along with ecological momentary assessment data via our intuitive wellbeing companions in the classroom.

This information is aggregated into a live portal and monthly reports, allowing educators to monitor the emotional wellbeing of the entire student cohort in the immediate and long term.

Over time the data collected across the entire school gives visibility into the wellbeing of all students and aides in informing better decision making around the ideal education environment required to support the mental health of young people.

HiJo also offers a number of additional features to staff, students and school security personnel. These include; built in personal messaging capabilities ideal for the notification of any developing security situation, silent warnings and guidance sent direct to students or the immediate contact of local law enforcement requesting support.

Genuine data informs better direction

HiJo for the industry

Up until now education departments, governments and policy makers have had very little reliable data about the true health and wellbeing of students in schools and classrooms. There is a genuine lack a fact-based metrics to drive better education policy and decision making and a dire need for immediate data, smart enough to identify patterns of student behavior and inform early intervention into issues that may escalate.

The data that HiJo collects, analyses and reports on can fill the void and assist in better informing decisions around the more targeted use of resources and funding. This can potentially lead to more supportive and engaging environments for education to be delivered to students. This information can also provide education departments with clearer benchmarking, analysis of specialized areas of the education process and insights into possible factors that are significantly influencing student wellbeing and mental health conditions.
