HiJo Device

The HiJo Device is a wellbeing companion for every student designed to be available to them, all day, every day, on their desk, in the classroom. It becomes a private confidant for them to share their immediate emotional state and provides a direct, discrete link to their teacher and carers.

As a connected IOT device, HiJo boasts a visual display and 11 input keys, including 8 mood inputs that are aligned to the ‘circumplex model of affect’. This allows students to easily classify and communicate their emotions and feelings at any given time throughout the day.

Each HiJo Device also tracks environmental data including student movement, temperature, light, noise and the proximity of others in the classroom, which connects directly to the teacher portal. It’s this combination of direct feedback from students, the collection of environmental data and immediate connectivity to teachers and carers that makes Hijo ‘wellbeing thermometer’ of the classroom.

This connectivity allows for a more tailored, personalized learning experience to be delivered for every student.

The device features:

Students loved having the ability to share their feelings with their teacher using Hijo! Being able to subtly report how they were feeling during different times of the day allowed students to provide their teacher with additional information to support their overall wellbeing
